New Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms set to revolutionize home networking with Wi-Fi 7

Today, we announced two additions to our Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms, paving the way for breakthrough in-home networking performance with powerful Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems and broadband gateway routers.

Global advances in broadband access technologies, fueled by massive public and private investments, are prompting a surge of high-speed residential broadband access deployment. Combined with the never-ending wave of high-bandwidth, low latency gaming, collaboration, and video streaming use cases defining today’s hyper-connected homes, a corresponding leap forward in home networking technology is in order. Our new Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms are that leap forward — combining revolutionary new technologies like Qualcomm Multi-Link Mesh with powerful Wi-Fi 7 features in our highly integrated platform architecture. These platforms initiate an era of extremely high-speed connections and wire-like low latency over wider multi-gig coverage areas than ever before.

Qualcomm Technologies pioneered Wi-Fi Self Organizing Network (SON) Technology, the backbone of modern Wi-Fi mesh networks, and our platforms have powered most commercial systems across multiple generations. With Qualcomm Multi-Link Mesh, we reimagine how backhaul and fronthaul Mesh connections are managed, by aggregating or alternating multiple links in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands based on network conditions, client capabilities, and home topology. 

Beyond Multi-Link Mesh, Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms offer uncompromising Wi-Fi 7 performance across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz spectrum:

  • Throughput intensive applications—such as 4K/8K streaming or video sharing—benefit from support for wide 320MHz and 240MHz channels, enabling over 20 Gbps of total system capacity. 
  • For latency sensitive applications, such as real-time gaming, virtual and augmented reality, support for Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link and Adaptive Interference Puncturing provide optimal operation even in congested home environments. Intelligent congestion avoidance algorithms ensure high performance even in the presence of interference from neighboring networks or other devices, leading to significant improvements in real-time latency. 

These platforms are purpose-built for the home and offered in a scalable silicon architecture leveraging a common software and hardware development approach, minimizing time-to-market:

  • The Qualcomm Immersive Home 3210 Platform, with 10-streams (2x2, 4x4, 4x4) and over 20 Gbps total peak wireless capacity is ideal for premium broadband home gateways, mesh router/mesh systems and small-to-medium business routers. 
  • The Qualcomm Immersive Home 326 Platform, with 6-streams (2x2, 2x2, 2x2) and over 10 Gbps total peak wireless capacity, for compact and powerful whole home mesh systems.

  • Security and networking acceleration: A dedicated Security Processing Engine helps ensure secure network transactions, and a specialized Packet Processing Engine handles networking acceleration and QoS traffic management, offloading the powerful Quad-core CPU for deployment of differentiating services and applications.
  • IoT integration: With household connected device numbers surging globally—and new smart home standards expected to smooth interoperability and accelerate this trend—the Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms support easy integration with IoT applications, and can associate and maintain stable connectivity for hundreds of client devices simultaneously. 
  • Industrial design: Consumers show a strong preference for compact and power-efficient Wi-Fi devices that blend into home décor. Without sacrificing performance, the Qualcomm Immersive Home Platform’s architecture is highly integrated to help ensure end-products are compact and cost-efficient, while low-power consumption is ensured by advanced process node and power saving capabilities.
  • Enhanced 6GHz operation: Qualcomm Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) Solutionis available as a turnkey deployment for all Qualcomm Immersive Home Platforms to leverage 6GHz spectrum. This complete solution spans network hardware, software, and fully supported cloud management capabilities.
