If you don't plan to livestream Snapdragon Summit this year, consider yourself warned: You will miss history in the making.

For the past six years, our annual Snapdragon celebration of industry leading, premium mobile experiences has been a three-day power-packed waterfall of tech innovation, deep insights, and THE springboard for what's next. And every year we strive to outdo the last.

This year, we can’t wait to unveil our next generation of platform breakthroughs that take user experiences to a whole new level. We're talking record setting speed and performance, next-level gaming, ear popping sound, amazing AI, and more. Snapdragon is at the center of the most premium mobile-first and extraordinary experiences you deserve across smartphones, PCs, extended reality (XR) devices, wearables, and even your next car.

As we rev up to Snapdragon Summit 2022, we’re looking back at some of the awesomeness it’s known for. Here’s a snapshot of our top three most memorable blast-from-the-past moments.

1. In 2018, Snapdragon jumpstarted the 5G revolution.

The first to commercialize 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and XR, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform opened the door to 5G. As the world’s first commercial 5G mobile platform, this once-in-a-decade leap forward supported 5G NR mmWave and sub-6 GHz for blazing-fast responsiveness and unprecedented speeds — we’re talking mobile multi-gigabit speeds previously unimaginable.

This new level of connectivity and on-device AI ushered in the next generation of premium experiences across all your favorite devices.

And if debuting the next generation of cellular wasn’t enough, Snapdragon 855 boasted five other firsts: 60 GHz (802.11ay) WiFi; CV-ISP (computer vision ISP), HDR10+ video recording, HDR10+ video playback, Snapdragon Elite Gaming Experience, and Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max. We’re still talking about this one.

2. In 2019, Snapdragon made real-time translation a reality.

Science fiction became fact three years ago when we instantly translated English to Mandarin Chinese on device — without interruption. Just like that, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform ushered in real-time, on-device translation into your world.

That was just the start. Our Snapdragon 865 chipset packed a bevy of groundbreaking features including the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, Qualcomm Aqstic, 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine, and Dolby Vision for Video Capture. Combined, these features continue to evolve and transform the ways you game, connect, and capture the world around you today.

3. And in 2021, Snapdragon unleashed the first mobile 8K HDR video.

Snapdragon mobile platforms transformed smartphones into professional quality cameras last year with our release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 — the world’s first mobile video enablement of 8K HDR.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform is now delivering countless groundbreaking innovations in AI, photography, gaming, and 5G connectivity to power the premium experiences that Snapdragon is known for in your smartphone and beyond. You can capture spectacular life-like photos and videos in extreme dynamic ranges with vivid colors and clarity thanks to Snapdragon Sight. And no night is too dark to stop you from taking breathtaking photographs thanks to the exceptional low-light capabilities of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
