Building mesh networks with Alexa just got easier

As consumers bring more and more smart devices into their homes, the need for a Wi-Fi networking solution that supports them is key. Our Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform is engineered to provide our customers with the foundation for such a solution. We announced the platform back in 2017, and last year, we integrated advanced voice services. Today, we’re expanding the availability of those capabilities with the introduction of the Qualcomm Mesh Networking Development Kit for Amazon AVS.

Voice recognition, as we think of it today, has been around for decades, and it continues to evolve and mature. Consequently, consumers have become increasingly comfortable talking to and hearing from their connected devices — from their smartphones to their cars to their home networks.

When we announced support for advanced voice services in our Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform, the vision was simple: Build a platform that provides corner-to-corner coverage, intelligence to connect any smart home device, and the ability to control the entire network by voice. A handful of device makers are starting to deliver on that promise.

And now, with the rise in popularity of digital assistants, it seems only natural to converge all that functionality into one device. With the introduction of this kit, we’re making it even easier for designers to build Wi-Fi mesh networking systems that integrate voice. It’s the result of integrating Meeami Technologies’ ClearVoice far-field voice enhancement software, which helps deliver superior user experiences, even in noisy environments around the home.

The Qualcomm Mesh Networking Development Kit has been qualified for the Alexa Voice Service by Amazon and is designed to offer manufacturers the necessary building blocks to quickly and cost-effectively create mesh Wi-Fi systems with Alexa built-in.
