Playing at the top of your game is about more than just lightning-fast reflexes and having a digital sixth-sense. You need a powerful set-up—one capable of delivering a smooth, responsive experience. But as every gamer knows, all the software tweaks and high-end hardware won’t keep you competitive if you’ve got a sub-par connection.

That’s where the NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S Smart R7800 WiFi Gaming Router comes in. This new Nighthawk router from NETGEAR is engineered to handle the demands of today’s high-performance, multiplayer titles—even in a house full of connected gamers—thanks to the very latest Qualcomm VIVE Wi-Fi technology and other cutting-edge features.

Qualcomm VIVE is state-of-the-art Wave-2 802.11ac technology, with features designed to make Wi-Fi connections faster and minimize game-ending lag. It starts with 4 antennas with up to 2.53Gbps of raw Wi-Fi bandwidth. Then a new feature called Multi-User MIMO (multiple input, multiple output), changes how that bandwidth is divvied up when the network gets crowded. For gamers with a lot of devices vying for their precious Wi-Fi bandwidth, MU-MIMO can mean up to 3x faster connection versus regular 11ac networks.

Next, Wave-2 11ac brings a new weapon in the war against slow Wi-Fi–160 MHz channels. That basically means turning a 2-lane highway into a 4-lane speedway, which can provide up to double the speed of traffic to PCs and phones on the other end (as long as they have the feature, too).

For gamers with a lot of devices vying for their precious Wi-Fi bandwidth, MU-MIMO can mean up to 3x faster connection versus regular 11ac networks.

The Nighthawk X4S also offers a powerful 1.7GHz dual core processor and Dynamic QoS, which prioritizes network traffic by application and device. That means it’s designed so gaming traffic can get what it needs even if someone starts streaming a movie in the other room.

“This is not a one-trick pony,” writes Gotta Be Mobile, which awarded the Nighthawks X4S its 2016 Editor’s Choice Award. “The Nighthawk X4s delivered better speeds and more reliable connectivity for our many smart home devices, tablets and smartphones inside our house and in our backyard.”
