Haier, QiKu, Tianyu join Qualcomm in new licensing agreements

Qualcomm has always been a leader in wireless connectivity, and we take pride in sharing our developments in expanding the connectivity fabric of everything. We recently granted Chinese electronics brands Haier, QiKu, and Tianyu patent licenses to manufacture and sell products with 3G and 4G LTE capabilities in China—part of our support of the growth of Chinese companies and the development of wireless networks, devices, and applications.

Known for its home appliances and consumer electronics, Haier is teaming up with Qualcomm to embed 3G and 4G connectivity into its products, personalizing smarthome experiences. And with the patent license agreement, Tianyu is looking forward to bringing advanced wireless services to its current customers, and expanding its product offerings in China and overseas. For QiKu, it’s the first time collaborating with Qualcomm. With this new relationship, QiKu can incorporate advanced security features and long battery life into its devices, as well as “a range of 3G and 4G products that blend top hardware with the finest software,” said Zhu Fanghao, president of QiKu.

“China’s mobile ecosystem is flourishing, benefiting Chinese companies, employees, and consumers alike,” said Eric Reifschneider, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing for Qualcomm Incorporated. “Qualcomm is pleased to have helped Chinese companies for more than a decade to establish themselves among the top manufacturers in the mobile industry.”
