Snapdragon 616 processor debuts with Huawei smartphone

In February 2014, Qualcomm Technologies announced the world’s first commercial octa-core chipset with integrated LTE and 64-bit capabilities with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. That Snapdragon processor made history, and today we make that piece of history even faster with the Snapdragon 616

The Snapdragon 616 is upgraded to offer even better performance than its predecessor while still offering all the same great features. Expect superior connectivity with X5 LTE, Full 1080p HD support including an HEVC (H.265) video codec, plus the Qualcomm Adreno 405 with support for advanced features like hardware tessellation, and of course, a 64-bit CPU capable of processing tasks even more handily than the 615.

The first device to take advantage of this Snapdragon 616 is the Huawei Maimang 4. This smartphone is dressed to impress with a sharp 1080p 5.5-inch display and an all-metal body.  Underneath the polished exterior is a large 3000mAH battery, which, when combined with the power efficiency of the Snapdragon 616, Huawei says can deliver over two days of use. Other features include dual SIM support, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and multiple satellite support for improved navigation and location.
