New Snapdragon based SoM and dev kit for IoE applications from eInfochips

eInfochips has debuted its new Eragon600 development platform powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. The Eragon600 System on Module (SoM) and the associated Development Kit provide an ideal setup to accelerate firmware development for the next generation of embedded products. This reduces design risk, improves design schedules and provides accurate estimates to the expected performance parameters.

The Eragon600 SoM can also be integrated into the end-product, as it is optimized for performance and efficiency. The Development Kit comes with a carrier board (Android & Linux), demo application and a custom SDK.

eInfochips’ new Eragon600 SoM enables companies to work on cutting edge technology solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE). It can be integrated into applications that span multiple industries, including industrial, security and surveillance, infotainment, avionics (in-flight entertainment), display systems, and Smart IoE systems.

The Eragon600 SoM and Development Kit were first introduced at Embedded World 2015 in Nuremburg, Germany. There, eInfochips showed a Snapdragon based solution for interactive digital signage, which included an AllJoyn based mobile application. Using an IP Camera, also based on a Snapdragon processor, the company could capture real-time video analytics, including measuring attention span and popularity of signage content.

The Eragon600 SoM and Development Kit are available and ready to be shipped to companies and professionals that are looking to evaluate the Snapdragon 600 for their upcoming projects. eInfochips has enabled multiple configurations and cost options for the platform. The Eragon600 SoM has two memory options: one with 512MB (the EIC-Q600-100 SoM) and the other with 2GB (the EIC-Q600-200 SoM). Developers can also directly integrate the SoM on their electronic design, to enable scalable performance without re-engineering delays.

The Evaluation Kit’s carrier card that houses the Eragon600 SoM comes in three flavors. The basic version is the EIC-Q600-210 Development Kit, which includes a primary set of interfaces: Ethernet, USB, HDMI, MIPI CSI, Serial, MicroSD, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The advanced version, the EIC-Q600-220 Development Kit, has additional interface types, such as GPS, MPCIe (USB), SATA, Speaker, Mic, and ZigBee support. The top-of-the-line version is the EIC-Q600-230 Development Kit: It includes an Industrial design chassis and LCD screen, offering a comprehensive development environment. For custom design scenarios, eInfochips also offers custom SoM Development for various form factors and design standards.

With the demand quickly growing for more innovation and new features, there is increased pressure on device manufacturers to reduce cost and development time. Find out more about eInfochips’ Eragon600 SoM and Development Kit, and about the Qualcomm Developer Network.
