Hands on with the OnePlus One

The OnePlus One is the first smartphone released by OnePlus. Even though the company is less than a year old, its debut handset has already received an impressive reaction. While the $299 (16GB model) price tag might catch your eye, the device’s well-focused design and easily customizable Cyanogenmod 11S OS (based on Android 4.4 KitKat) hold your attention. Ever since our Q&A a few months ago with OnePlus founder and CEO, Pete Lau, we’ve been excited to see the finished product.

Running on a powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 processor, the OnePlus One can record in 4K Ultra HD and has a 5.5-inch 1080p display. And with a 3,100 mAh battery, it’s no wonder that industry experts are singing its praises:

  • “It's hard to imagine a phone that looks this good and performs so well only starts at $300.”  — Business Insider
  • "The truly remarkable “how’d they do that” part of this phone isn’t its cost, but its quality.” — Ars Technica
  • “Only a few months into its existence, OnePlus promised smartphone buyers the stars. With its $299 unlocked price tag, premium hardware and highly customizable software, the company actually managed to deliver.” — Mashable
