Gimbal Enhances the Tribeca Film Festival Attendee Experience [VIDEO]

The renowned Tribeca Film Festival® opened this week in New York and the Gimbal™ platform (from Qualcomm Retail Solutions, Inc.) has been incorporated into the 2014 festival app, the Tribeca Film Festival – Official Mobile Event Guide app, to enhance the entire experience for attendees.

Developed for iPhone® devices by Eventbase, the film festival app uses the Gimbal context aware and proximity platform to serve up ticket offers, festival promotions, movie trailers, and surveys that allow you to share your Festival experience, including enabling fans to vote on the films being debuted this year. The app is available now in the App Store.

Gimbal Proximity Beacons with iBeacon™ technology will be in numerous locations around the festival. Additional Gimbal proximity beacons located on outdoor properties owned by Titan, an outdoor advertising company, will also be utilized to further enhance the user experience. These Gimbal proximity beacons, which communicate with the festival app via Bluetooth® Smart (Bluetooth low energy) technology, provide highly accurate (within a few feet) micro-location information. If the user has opted-in to receive push notifications, the user will get information and offers that are tuned, not just to the fact that the user is at the Tribeca Film Festival, but to the fact that the user is—in that moment—very near to something of interest.

The mobile engagement that Gimbal enables is perfect for events such as the Tribeca Film Festival where attendees come and go over several days and move from screenings to other festival-related events and to nearby restaurants and bars. Check out this video about Gimbal:
