Qualcomm and Formula E unveil the future of driving at 2014 CES

If the cars were the stars at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, the superstar was the new all-electric Formula E racecar, which was unveiled publicly for the first time at a press conference and demo held in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Capable of reaching speeds of more than 150mph, the Spark-Renault SRT_01E was unveiled by Qualcomm Chairman and CEO Paul Jacobs (Qualcomm is an Official Founding and Technology Partner) and Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings, and the driving force behind the new FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first, fully-electric racing series for open-wheel cars capable of speeds in excess of 150mph.

After a short push (only a few feet) from the podium, driver Lucas di Grassi climbed in to the cockpit and artfully executed a few short laps around the parking lot area, working up enough speed to get the tires smoking and hearts beating in the crowd.
