ZTE brings Nubia 5 and Grand S smartphones to U.S.

Smartphone manufacturer ZTE is a company on the rise in the U.S. and starting last Saturday their two newest, high-end Android handsets, the ZTE Grand S and ZTE Nubia 5, became available for pre-order in the U.S.

Both the ZTE Grand S and ZTE Nubia 5 are powered by the multitasking, battery-saving Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor, run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and are packed with 16GB of ROM and 2GB of RAM.

The Nubia 5 features the fundamentals of a digital SLR, including a 13-megapixel camera enhanced by a high-end, scratch-resistant Konica-Minolta sapphire lens and a Sony CMOS sensor. Shutterbugs can access a full range of advanced photography settings, including a high-speed burst mode, control over focus and lighting options, and a four-direction panoramic shooting mode. More casual photo fans will find features like filters and smile detection modes included as well. A second, 2-megapixel lens is also equipped on the phone as a front-facing camera. The manufacturer unlocked Nubia 5 will cost $449.99 without a new phone contract.

The Grand S, originally announced at CES last January, is a beauty to behold. Not only is it distinguished as the thinnest smart phone available in the country to date, at just 0.27-inches thick, it was also the winner of the 2013 iF International Design Award and Japan’s 2013 Good Design Award. This handset is also packed with a full HD screen, a 13-megapixel camera and 2-megapixel front-facing secondary lens while being slightly taller than the Nubia 5 (5.59-inches vs. 5.43-inches). The Grand S will be available unlocked without a new phone contract for $399.99.

Both the Grand S and the Nubia 5 are slated to be released on October 12.
