Chris Lattner

EVP, Advanced AI Software and Platforms

Chris Lattner serves as Executive Vice President of Advanced AI Software and Platforms at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. In this role, he leads the company's AI software strategy and platform innovation across edge, cloud, and data center computing, helping advance developer technologies and software platforms that enable AI across the compute continuum.

Prior to joining Qualcomm, Lattner was Co-Founder and CEO of Modular, where he led the development of AI-native software infrastructure designed to simplify deployment and optimize performance across diverse computing architectures. Following Qualcomm's acquisition of Modular, he joined the company to help accelerate AI innovation through open, developer-focused software platforms and tools.

Lattner is the creator of LLVM, Clang, Swift, and MLIR, technologies that have contributed to advances in compiler design, software development, and AI infrastructure. During his twelve years at Apple, he led developer tools initiatives and created the Swift programming language. He later joined Google as a Distinguished Engineer, where he helped advance machine learning infrastructure and compiler technologies, including the creation of MLIR. Lattner also led Tesla's Autopilot software organization and served as President of Engineering and Product at SiFive, where he oversaw hardware, software, and platform development for RISC-V computing solutions.

With more than two decades of experience spanning programming languages, compilers, AI infrastructure, and large-scale software platforms, Lattner has helped develop technologies that support software development and AI deployment across a broad range of computing environments.

Lattner holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Portland and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
