HTC One launches with benchmark-busting Snapdragon 600 Processor

Snapdragon 600 powered HTC One

Yesterday, in events in New York and London, HTC unveiled their new HTC One smartphone to the world. The HTC One has a distinct zero-gap aluminum unibody with a 4.7" Full HD (1080p) screen and features the latest Android Jelly Bean operating system. The HTC One joins the DROID DNA by HTC in their arsenal of smartphones with 1080p HD displays.

The HTC One is also one of the first smartphones to harness the power of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 600 processor. The Snapdragon 600 processor, announced earlier this year at CES, features faster CPUs, higher performance graphics, and lower power usage. Slashgear.com processor benchmark tests of the new device found that the Snapdragon 600 processor with 1.7GHz quad-core CPUs inside was "blowing up the charts, destroying the previous high-mark in the basic readout by more than double." Android Authority says that "The Snapdragon 600 is ready to kick —" well, let's just leave it at that.

Outside of the blazing fast processor, the HTC One also debuts four new features:

  • HTC BlinkFeed: a customizable, personalized live stream aggregate of social media updates, news and photos, that eliminates the need to go to separate apps.
  • HTC UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe: no more megapixels; say hello to the "ultrapixel."  HTC explains that an ultrapixel is twice the size of a megapixel and it lets in 300 percent more light. This new camera is paired with new software that allows you to take high-res photos in three-second snippets, or "Zoes," automatically creating integrated highlight films from each event comprised of Zoes.
  • HTC BoomSound: for the first time on a phone, HTC introduces front-facing stereo speakers with a dedicated amplifier and a full HD display.  In addition, HTC Sense Voice boosts call volume in noisy environments.
  • HTC Sense TV: your phone becomes a sophisticated remote control, with interactive program guide, for most TVs, receivers and set-top boxes.

The new HTC One will be available globally through more than 185 mobile operators and major retailers in more than 80 regions and countries beginning in March — in the USA at T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T. And be sure to look for more phones featuring the new Snapdragon 600 Processor as the year goes on.
