WCDMA+ improves data capacity by making voice more efficient; it triples the spectral efficiency of WCDMA circuit switched voice to free up to 2/3rds of a full 5MHz carrier for HSPA/HSPA+ data. Given that 2 Billion HSPA/HSPA+ subscribers will be using WCDMA voice in 2015, the case for enhancing WCDMA together with the HSPA+ evolution is obvious. WCDMA+ addresses the critical need to utilize finite spectrum assets more efficiently and at the same time be able to cost-effectively address all device segments, see www.qualcomm.com/wcdma-plus for more.
