James Parr, Asteroid Hunter
James Parr is the inventor of the Ultrascope: a DIY, mobile, robotic observatory powered by a smartphone, built from 3D printed hardware and open-source software.
Ultra fast 4G LTE enables remote control and data upload from remote locations. The Ultrascope also needs a phone that runs cool and that captures raw images because heat and image compression create noise that distorts the data quality. It’s for these reasons the Ultrascope was designed to use a phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip set because it possesses all of these features.
