Gestures are in many ways the next frontier of interaction between humans and computing devices. In nearly every aspect of life, one can see situations where gestures can optimize use of the devices around us. For this reason, Qualcomm is very excited about our Snapdragon chipsets and their gesture recognition capabilities. One of Snapdragon’s main differentiators is that not only can gestures be enabled by the camera, but also through ultrasound and its use of the multiple microphones on your mobile device. In the following video demonstration, you can see the “near swipe” gesture being utilized to change pages of a recipe book - which is especially useful when considering that cooking often involves situations where one does not want hands actually touching the device screen
