The lyrics are simple, but they paint a clear picture. “He gets the ball and scores a goal. Andy, Andy Cole.” Indeed, that’s exactly what he did. During much of the 1990s and early 2000s, Manchester United legend Andy Cole was among the most feared strikers in the Premier League, or anywhere on the planet.
In “What Moves Me: Andy Cole,” Cole reminisces about his career and his relationship with fans during his playing days and currently.
Over the course of eight seasons from 1994-95 to 2001-02, Cole scored more than 100 goals for the Red Devils, with 93 coming during Premier League action. It was a prolific run of form for Cole, and one that was critical to United’s historic stretch of success in the Premier League and beyond. Together, Cole and United won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a UEFA Champions League trophy. No one was better than United in the 90s because few players were better than Andy Cole.
One of the most beloved figures of the most successful period in United’s history, Cole deeply understands football’s transformative ability to bring people together — both on the pitch and off. Cole naturally felt that sense of togetherness — with his teammates and with the ecstatic masses inside Old Trafford — while he was playing, but it’s a feeling he continues to experience to this day.
Speaking in “What Moves Me: Andy Cole,” the Red Devils icon discusses his continued good rapport with the fanbase, expressing equal parts gratitude and reverence for their love and dedication.
“I always look back on…the tough spell you go through in your career and, you know, how much they got behind me then,” he says. “And then even more so when I’m playing at the peak of my powers.”

And even more so long after he hung up his boots for good. The heart of “What Moves Me: Andy Cole” is Cole’s recollection of the way Manchester United fans — and football fans more broadly — rallied behind him after he had a kidney transplant in 2017. Another sense of togetherness in a difficult moment. Football fans coming together to acknowledge that there’s more to life than football.
“The support I got…was absolutely unbelievable.”
Cole thinks the world of football fans, and he’s blown away by the technological advances made by devices powered by Snapdragon to help bring those very same fans closer to the game they love. He calls the modern fan experience “absolutely phenomenal.” (The behind-the-scenes look our Snapdragon Insiders got at Old Trafford is a perfect example.)
“That brings fans a lot closer to the football club,” he says. “And ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.”
