Bustling Berlin set the stage for yet another exhilarating episode of “Behind the Silicon,” where Snapdragon Insiders, tech enthusiasts, and industry experts converged to witness Qualcomm Technologies’ latest innovations in on-device AI for compute. 

Hosted by the always dynamic Lucy Hedges ​​(@lucyhedges on Instagram and X), Episode 5 brought us to Berlin, where Lucy is joined by Snapdragon Insiders Kevin Breeze (@KevinBreezeTV on X and Instagram, and @KevinBreeze on YouTube) and Paul Smith (@Geeekystuff on Instagram and Twitter). After nearly a year of accompanying the Snapdragon team on its computing journey, our dream team was ready for even more groundbreaking news. 

Spoiler alert: they weren't disappointed.

 

Another milestone for Snapdragon X Series

The episode's biggest highlight is a pre-IFA press conference where Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon reveals the latest addition to the Snapdragon® X Series: the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core platform.

As Lucy, Kevin, and Paul share their initial reactions, the discussion quickly turned to the platform's impressive specs. The Snapdragon X Plus 8-core promises advanced AI experiences, extremely long battery life, support for Triple 4K or Dual 5K monitor setups, and high-fidelity music listening. Simply put, this platform is set to redefine the entry-level Windows PC. 

 

Conversations with Qualcomm leadership

No episode of “Behind the Silicon” would be complete without hearing from Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership. Carmen True, Vice President of Product Marketing (Qualcomm Technologies), joins Lucy and the Snapdragon Insiders to discuss the impact of the new announcements. Carmen's excitement is palpable as she emphasizes Qualcomm Technologies’ goal to make premium AI experiences accessible to more users worldwide. With over 30+ designs now available from OEM partners, customers have an unprecedented range of options, all delivering on the Snapdragon core principles of top-tier AI performance and battery life.

Next, the conversation turns technical as Nitin Kumar, Vice President of Product Management (Qualcomm Technologies), provides insights into the engineering behind the Snapdragon X Plus platform. Nitin highlighted the importance of expanding the ecosystem of AI applications optimized for Snapdragon NPU, so that users get better performance and battery life and entirely new AI-powered experiences.

 

A year of innovation

As the episode winds down, Lucy, Kevin, and Paul reflect on the past year's journey. The consensus? Snapdragon X Series has not only met but exceeded expectations, continually surprising the tech world with innovative mobile computing solutions that are as powerful as they are accessible.

As Lucy signs off, she leaves us with one last piece of advice: "Go out and get your hands on a Copilot+ PC — what are you waiting for?"
