Snapdragon Summit 2024: Snapdragon Insider Devin recaps Day 2

Hey Snapdragon Insiders! I’m Devin (@Lexcyn on X, @devinthreethousand on Instagram) and I couldn’t be happier to be on-site in Maui for the Snapdragon Summit. With so much happening on Day 2 of the summit, it’s going to be difficult to recap everything, but that’s not going to stop me from trying.

However, before we jump into all the biggest events from Day 2, if you haven’t had a chance to see the Day 1 recap by Manos (@Orange_Scooter on X, @mf__os on Instagram) you should take a look. You really don’t want to miss anything that’s going on here.

In many ways Day 2 was even more exciting than Day 1, especially for gearheads and those of us interested in the future of automotive tech. Despite a little lingering jet lag, we were up bright and early to spend some quality time together over breakfast, discussing with other Snapdragon Insiders what we were hoping to get out of the day.

And we weren’t disappointed. First, it was off to hear the keynote from Nakul Duggal, who serves as Group General Manager of Automotive, Industrial and Cloud at Qualcomm Technologies. He kicked things off to introduce Snapdragon® technology’s latest centralized computing solution for automotive: Snapdragon® Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite, powered by Qualcomm® Oryon CPU. Snapdragon’s most advanced automotive platform yet combines high performance, intelligence and power efficiency all in one place, unlocking a new era of automotive intelligence.

It was also so cool to see that so many automotive partners are already working with Snapdragon to bring these solutions into automobiles.

And, as an added bonus, one of my tweets made it into the keynote!

We were also surprised with an incredible walk-on appearance from Toto Wolff, Team Principal and CEO of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team! He joined Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire and Vice President and General Manager, Automotive for Qualcomm Nakul Duggal in a fireside chat onstage.

Then after some Q+A and a quick break, it was off to a series of demos exclusively for Snapdragon Insiders. Getting to see exactly how Snapdragon technology is already changing the future of automotive made me feel like I was seeing into the future. If you don’t “look under the hood” every once in a while, you don’t really realize how much Snapdragon is already changing the driving experience. While it was hard to rank what we got to see as Snapdragon Insiders, I’d say the most impressive demo to me was the “Snapdragon City” mixed reality landscape, which let us explore the new Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite as a digital cityscape.

We also got to head back down to the Luau Gardens to hop in some of the vehicles that will feature Snapdragon Digital Chassis. My favorite had to be checking out the spooky Halloween modes in the Rivian R1S!

After a day of innovation and inspiration, there was no better way to unwind than by sharing a delicious meal and lively conversation with my fellow Snapdragon Insiders.

Can’t wait to see how Day 3 tops this.
