Hey everyone, I’m Jeremy (@sinclairinat0r on Instagram, X, and TikTok). I’m a proud member of the Snapdragon Insiders community, and I’m thrilled to be on-site for Snapdragon Summit 2023! We’re off to an amazing start — so much has already happened. I’m here to bring you up to speed on all of the action from Day 1. Let’s jump in!
We arrived in beautiful Maui a day early and checked into our hotel rooms, where we were greeted with some incredible Snapdragon swag. Can you think of a better welcome? I can’t.
With our luggage stowed in our rooms and our sick new swag acquired, we all met for a special welcome from Don McGuire (Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Qualcomm) — who got us extra hyped for Snapdragon Summit.
After parting ways with Don, we headed out on the Snapdragon Experience Tour. What’s that? It’s a journey through the senses using Snapdragon® technology. It was pretty cool. We used all five senses — sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing — to learn what’s possible with Snapdragon tech.
For sight, we had a photo shoot where we tested the intelligent editing capabilities of Snapdragon powered devices (#ShotOnSnapdragon has never looked so good 🤩). For touch, we turned to AR for a digital coaching experience to help us get active. Then AI Assistants helped us detect the freshness of cookies — yes, cookies 🍪— for taste and smell. Who knew technology could lead to such delicious experiences? Finally, we listened to two songs using Auracast to put our hearing to the test. The sound quality was incredible — Auracast is definitely dream technology for audiophiles.
We all got some much needed rest before attending the keynote address the following morning. WOW doesn’t even begin to cover it. There were so many announcements it was hard to keep track! Between Snapdragon X Elite, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm® S7 Pro Sound platform and Snapdragon Seamless™ experience (all of which are mind blowing 🤯), it’s hard to pick a favorite.
After the keynote, we were still reeling from all the news, but we contained our excitement long enough to meet with some of Snapdragon’s partners, including BMW. The iconic German automaker showed off some of the incredible things it’s doing to reimagine the future of cars with the Snapdragon Digital Chassis™. I think I’ll be asking for a BMW this holiday season. 😉
After lunch, we got to meet with Meta, who let us demo the new Ray Ban Stories 2 — AR glasses that use the new Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform. Just getting to try out these glasses would have been cool enough, but we all received a pair to take home with us! Absolutely awesome!
We wrapped up Day 1 at the After Show, where Kedar Kondap (SVP & GM, Compute and Gaming) and Chris Patrick (SVP & GM, Mobile Handset) recapped and discussed the day’s big announcements. Cristiano even made a surprise cameo! And Snapdragon Insiders from around the world tuned in to join us across Discord, X, and YouTube.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Snapdragon Summit without the iconic Snapdragon surfboard. Before we turned in for the night, all the Snapdragon Insiders got to leave our mark by signing the board. It feels pretty cool to be a part of Snapdragon history.
Between all of the exciting events, I got to spend quality time with my fellow Snapdragon Insiders. We came from all over the world, and connecting with them in Hawaii was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Meeting members of our global community was definitely a highlight of the event for me. But there’s lots more to cover from Snapdragon Summit 2023.
