Snapdragon Insiders visit “Cellphone: Unseen Connections” at the Smithsonian
As Snapdragon Insiders, you know that Snapdragon® technology transforms your mobile experiences. What you may not know is that Qualcomm and Snapdragon have been transforming mobile experiences for a long, long time. With our rich history of innovation, we love celebrating just how far mobile technology has come. That’s why we’re proud that Qualcomm is the lead sponsor of the new Cellphone: Unseen Connections Exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
This interactive exhibit invites you to think about your relationship with your smartphone in a new way, and showcases the often overlooked technologies that make our mobile phones possible. Many of these technologies were created by Qualcomm inventors — several of which are featured at the Smithsonian. You can learn more about Lola Awoniyi-Oteri, Christine Zhang, Hung Ly, and Kamal Sahota, and their revolutionary inventions, at the exhibit.
Beyond the technologies that make mobile phones possible, this exhibit dives deeper, examining the intersection between technology, nature, and culture. From the minerals and resources used to make cellphones to a comic mural highlighting the social effects of technology, there’s a lot to see and explore.
It’s such an incredible exhibit, and we wanted to give Snapdragon Insiders the opportunity to experience it first-hand. That’s why we brought two of the members from the Snapdragon Insiders Access Program to the opening event. Bhaumik Bheda (@BhaumikBheda1 on Twitter and @bhaumik_bheda on Instagram) and Mikael Hilger (@M1K4_3L on Twitter and @miketlse on Instagram) came to the Smithsonian to see Cellphone: Unseen Connections for themselves — you can get a glimpse of their experience on Tiktok or Instagram.
Not only did they get to experience the exhibit, but they attended the Late Night at the Museum celebration. With a DJ, gallery tours, and a panel discussion featuring industry experts (including Dr. Lola Awoniyi-Oteri, Principal Systems Engineer at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.), this event was the perfect mix of entertainment and education — just like the exhibit itself.
Clearly, we love the Cellphone: Unseen Connections exhibit. It's a thoughtful reflection of the impact of technology as well as a celebration of how far it has come. We hope you get to visit the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian and see the exhibit for yourself.
