In December 2023, Snapdragon Insiders JDun (@jdunrrp on Instagram, TikTok, and X) and JoyReignVR (@joyreignvr on Instagram, TikTok and X) attended the SPS Call of Duty: Mobile World Championships 2023 at DreamHack Atlanta (watch the finals here!). The pair — who fell in love during the pandemic over VR (more on that below) — demoed the Meta Quest 3 and other gaming devices, took a VIP behind-the-scenes tour, snagged custom jerseys and more. A super cool tidbit: They’ve never been to a convention like this before! Talk about a good first impression.
We asked them about their experience and shared love of gaming. Here’s what they had to say.
How was your experience attending the SPS Call of Duty: Mobile World Championships 2023 at DreamHack Atlanta?
JoyReignVR: My experience was mind blowing. I didn’t know what to expect because I’d never been to an event like this, so to experience it on this level — behind the scenes, exclusive tours — it’s been remarkable. Everything I could have hoped for and more.
JDun: It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Getting to see the world championship was amazing, because it’s a game we enjoy playing!
What mobile games are you into right now?
JD: Of course, we play a ton of mobile games like “Call of Duty: Mobile.” But in VR and XR, we’re playing a lot of “Beat Saber,” and we’re playing a lot of “Asgard’s Wrath 2,” which is a huge title that just dropped on the Meta Quest 3.
JR: “Call of Duty: Mobile” of course! But, you know, the art is what inspires JDun and I the most, so we love playing “Asgard’s Wrath 2.” Go get it if you haven’t already!
What do you love about gaming?
JR: Gaming is home. Gaming is personal. Gaming is nostalgia, it’s childhood. You hear a sound from a game, and it takes you back. And gaming is actually the thing that brought my husband and I together! We had VR date nights because we couldn’t get together during the pandemic. So we used a Meta Quest 2 to do VR date nights, and we fell in love — with each other and with the technology. In fact, we’re celebrating our two year wedding anniversary here with Snapdragon Insiders this weekend!
JD: Honestly, it’s home for me too. Since I was a kid playing Sega and Nintendo, all the way up to now, playing mobile games. And you know what, thinking about it, Gameboy was my first true gaming experience, so I guess I’ve sort of always been into mobile gaming. And now that I’ve switched to gaming on phones powered by Snapdragon® mobile processors, it’s been a game changer. So yea, gaming is everything to me.
Where would you like to see gaming go in the future?
JR: I’d like to see more women out here! Let’s kick some butt. I want to see more women on the stage with men competing, because I know that we can rock it. And I want to be an advocate for anyone who doesn’t think they fit in this space. This is the space for you, we welcome you with open arms!
JD: I want the future of gaming to be completely, utterly seamless, and diverse. Right now, to get the most power, you have to get the most expensive device. I want devices to get cheaper, faster, quicker, and more diverse around the world so that everyone can experience the power of Snapdragon technology.
What got you interested in becoming a Snapdragon Insider?
JR: Finding out that it powers the tech that helped me fall in love with my husband. Of course I want to be a part of that!
JD: Snapdragon is what powers everything that we care about in technology, whether that's in mobile, computing, VR, or XR, which is something that me and my wife absolutely love. And so when we got into the Meta Quest and we found out Snapdragon technology powers it, we were like, “Okay, we're all in, where can we go to sign up to be Snapdragon insiders?”
