You know what time it is: Snapdragon Insider of the Month time! This September, meet Mohamed from India (@smasithick on X and Instagram). He’s passionate about devices with Snapdragon® technology, photography, and being a Snapdragon Insider. Here’s what he had to say about being a part of this amazing community.
What sparked your interest in technology?
I've always been fascinated by the way technology shapes our world and improves our lives — it has the power to solve complex problems, connect people globally, and drive progress in unimaginable ways. I have a huge passion for exploring and understanding the variable landscape of technology, and it started over a decade ago when I purchased my very first device with Snapdragon technology — a Nokia Lumia powered by the Snapdragon S2 processor.
What’s your go-to device with a Snapdragon mobile platform?
I’ve had devices from Nokia, Microsoft, One Plus, and Oppo — all powered by Snapdragon — but right now I’m using the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 as well, but that’s for my sister.
Why are you a fan of Snapdragon?
There are several reasons. The consistent innovation and cutting-edge technology Snapdragon brings to the table has a significant impact on the performance and capabilities of mobile devices. Plus, the Snapdragon processors not only provide a seamless multitasking and smooth gaming experience, but also enable advanced camera features and efficient battery life. I'm currently experiencing that with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which has a very efficient battery life, along with incredible camera features.
Aside from that, I love how Snapdragon is committed to pushing boundaries and enhancing user experiences. It really resonates with me, so I’m happy to be a dedicated follower and enthusiast. I'm embracing technology that improves and enriches every aspect of modern life — and that’s Snapdragon technology.
How did you get involved with the Snapdragon Insider community?
I became a Snapdragon Insider as soon as the program was launched, but I was not really active until I joined the Discord channel. That got me really engaged. The Snapdragon Insiders community, especially on Discord, allows me to connect with fellow enthusiasts and learn more about the latest tech innovations. It's been an enriching experience that has allowed me to stay up to date with cutting-edge developments in the technology world.
Who is your favorite Snapdragon Insider to follow?
It’s hard to pick — every Snapdragon Insider brings a unique perspective and expertise to the community. I like following Ryan Cleary (@spintheweedawg on X and @ryan.cleary.photography on Instagram) for his photography insights. I went on his Twitter Spaces recently to talk about my photography, which was wonderful. My photos just received 3 million views on Google Maps so that was a cool milestone that I got to share during that Twitter Spaces discussion.
I also enjoy following Bhaumik Bheda (@BhaumikBheda1 on X and @bhaumik_bheda on TikTok and Instagram), Wayne Gilbert (@iamwaynegilbert on X), John D. Hamilton (@HamiltonJohnD on X and Tiktok), Jeffrey Riley (@jeffrey_jpeg on X and Instagram), Fahim Al Mahmud (@fahim_al_mahmud on X), and Alia (@Redribbon_26 on X) to name a few.
What do you like most about being a Snapdragon Insider?
Being a Snapdragon Insider has been an incredible journey filled with exciting moments. One of the highlights was being recognized for my passion for photography in a #ShotOnSnapdragon article. It's rewarding to share insights with a community that values creativity and innovation.
I also recently received a Manchester United and Snapdragon branded football for my contributions to the community and that was truly special. It’s a testament to the sense of belonging and recognition you can get within the community. The support and opportunities for engagement as a Snapdragon Insider are truly unique. It’s an awesome community.
What’s the best photo you’ve ever taken with a device with Snapdragon technology?
My favorite is the macro photograph of an Arabian Jasmine plant; the macro shot brings out incredible details. I took it with my Xiaomi Mi 11x, which has the Snapdragon 870 Mobile Platform. Usually with an Arabian Jasmine, you see only one bud that will bloom into a flower, but this plant had three joining buds.
Another favorite image is one I took on the Samsung Galaxy S23, which has incredible optical zoom capabilities. I managed to take a photo of a woman working in a field, shot from a very long distance while using the 30x zoom, and the S23 Ultra managed to capture a beautiful, crisp photo. Even at the high zoom level there was no loss in quality or detail. I was actually contacted by Samsung for the Galaxy Instagram account to feature that photo.
If budget wasn’t an issue, what's your ideal photo shoot location?
I'm currently living in the southern part of India, which is covered with lush, green forest. We don't see tall, huge buildings in the southern part of India. I’d like to travel to some big cities to work on my night photography — maybe New York or Dubai. They would offer great nighttime photography opportunities for capturing the cityscape.
