Snapdragon Insiders, we’re excited to introduce you to someone who helps make this community so special! This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Carla Sierra, Marketing Communications Specialist, Staff (Qualcomm International, Inc.). Aka @SnapdragonCarla, Carla manages our community engagement for Snapdragon Insiders. Hailing from Mexico, Carla is a driving force behind building meaningful connections and igniting the positive energy that makes the Snapdragon Insider community so unique. Her love for innovation and tech is contagious as she brings people together. Before we get started with the interview, Carla has a message for you:

Hi Carla! Can you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a career in tech?

Hi! I love the fast-paced environment and the constant innovation. I also felt very at home in tech, as I found my peers shared similar interests with me. It feels like a safe and supportive space, which is great. We all share a passion, and that’s part of why I’m drawn to the excitement of the tech world.

What drew you to Snapdragon technology and its mission?

I really love how it makes technology an important part of everyone’s life. I’m excited by the idea of improving it, making it better, and enhancing the user experience. Snapdragon technology strives to make these advancements easier for users, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The goal is to make life easier, better, and more enjoyable for everyone. What I find most exciting is that this innovation isn’t just limited to phones; it’s also present in computers, wearables, and beyond. Technology is everywhere, and that’s what truly excites me.

What would you say is your favorite aspect of being part of the Snapdragon Insiders community?

It’s an easygoing and supportive environment, which isn’t something you find everywhere. It’s amazing to feel that encouragement and see people cheering each other on. Watching everyone share their favorite things and hearing others respond with, ‘Yeah, we got you!’ is such a wonderful experience—it creates a great sense of belonging.

How does the Snapdragon Insiders program help shape the future of technology?

Community plays an important role in driving technology forward. It brings people together, welcomes them in, and inspires them to follow their passions, even if they’re not experts. Building a supportive community that encourages growth is essential. While a brand name holds value, what truly makes it special is the people behind it. It’s the community that makes the real difference, not just the name. That’s why building a strong sense of community is key, especially in tech.

We hear you’re a big animal lover! Can you tell us about your pets and how they became part of your family?

I have one dog and two cats—all rescues! My dog, Indiana Jones, joined our family as a puppy after being rescued from a very sad situation. A kind lady saved him, and I adopted him soon after. One of our cats was found by my boyfriend on the highway, and the other just showed up as a tiny kitten in a parking lot! They are all truly part of the family.

Are there any kind of hidden benefits of being a Snapdragon Insider that more people should know about?

Yes, definitely. Besides meeting people and connecting with them, there’s also the opportunity to be part of something special, like being spotlighted within the community in various ways, being invited to meetups, attending real-life events, or even receiving exclusive packages or gifts. These are just a few of the perks that come with being part of the community and the program. 

What new opportunities are you most excited to bring to Snapdragon Insiders in the future?

I’m excited to be working with the team to bring Snapdragon Insiders more opportunities to interact and more events where we can connect and support each other, whether virtual or in person. We’re thrilled to plan Snapdragon Insider meetups where we can actually meet face-to-face. We're also looking forward to creating new spaces where Insiders can connect across different platforms, bringing our community closer together no matter where you are in the world. 

If you were an emoji, what would it be?

I think I would be the thinking face emoji—the one with a hand on its chin. I use that one a lot. I'm always thinking (maybe overthinking) things. That’s definitely me! 🤔 

What is your go-to device powered by Snapdragon, and why?

I’d say the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Honor Choice Earbuds X3 are my favorites. I like to listen to music while I go about my day, and sometimes I forget I’m wearing earbuds because they’re noise-cancelling. Even when I’m multitasking, I barely notice how much the earbuds block out the noise. They really help me stay in my comfort zone. As for the phone, it’s great because I can do absolutely everything I want or need on it, like take really amazing photos.  

What advancements or inventions do you hope to see Snapdragon technology make in the upcoming years?

I hope Snapdragon continues to push the boundaries of performance. The question is, how can we make the technology around us even better? I know Snapdragon will play a big role in that, continually improving and advancing. One area I’d like to see more advancement in is fitness. We already have wearables, but where else can we take that? I think it’s an area that’s growing in interesting ways, and I’d love to see what Snapdragon does in that space.

What would be one piece of advice you'd give to someone who is looking to get more involved with the tech industry?

I’d say take the leap! You’ll never know everything, and in tech, you quickly realize that’s okay. Every day is an opportunity to learn, and it’s completely fine if you don’t have all the answers. There’s always room to grow and improve. So, my advice is to jump in, take chances, and knock-on doors. Eventually, someone will open one for you if you keep learning and trying. You've got this!
