Looking ahead and going Back to the Future with Fahim

This month, we’re celebrating a Snapdragon Insider with a talent for finding the beauty in life’s mundane moments. Meet Fahim from Idaho (@fahim_al_mahmud on X and @fahim_al_mahmud_ashik on Instagram). Fahim is a lover of Snapdragon® technology, a talented mobile photographer, and a future-thinking tech optimist.

Before we hear what he had to say about being a Snapdragon Insider, watch a quick video intro from Fahim.

How did you get involved with Snapdragon Insiders?

In the beginning of 2023, I had some friends on X who were Snapdragon Insiders already. I saw them posting about the Snapdragon Insiders program and I was curious about it. I've been doing photography for a very long time, and I was looking for a supportive, engaging community where people give advice about photography. The Snapdragon Insiders community seemed like the perfect fit. I've been actively involved in the community ever since.

What’s your go-to device with Snapdragon?

I'm currently using the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform for Galaxy. I absolutely love it. The generative AI features are incredible and add a new twist as a mobile photographer. We can now alter elements of our photos, remove objects, and make sure the image is exactly how we want it. No photographer likes having an unwanted object in their photo — we want everything to be as clean as possible — so it’s great to be able to remove things. Also, if my framing or composition is not exactly how I want it to be, I can move objects around to make the image better.

What’s the best photo you’ve taken with a smartphone camera powered by Snapdragon?

There’s a funny story about my favorite #ShotOnSnapdragon picture. I was actually grocery shopping at Walmart, and as I was picking up groceries and putting them in the car, I saw the best sunset ever. I immediately took out my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) and took a picture. It came out really beautiful. For me, this photo is a great example of how technology impacts our lives. We don’t need to carry big cameras or anything, we just need our smartphones. They do everything we want.

If budget wasn't an issue, what's your ideal photoshoot location?

I have always wanted to capture the Northern Lights and I'm a big fan of astrophotography, so I would love to go to somewhere very remote, like Alaska or Iceland, and spend some time doing astrophotography and landscape photography.

Who is your favorite Snapdragon Insider to follow?

Chad Torres (@chadptorres on X and Instagram). Initially, we followed each other and communicated on X, but then we became friends outside of just X. He was also featured as a Snapdragon Insider of the Month a while ago.

What do you like most about being a Snapdragon Insider?

The best thing about the Snapdragon Insider program is the community and how everybody interacts with each other. It doesn't matter what you do, they will always appreciate you, support you, and even suggest how you can improve, because we can't move forward without helping each other in the process. It’s such an active and encouraging community.

If you could put the Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ Solution in one car from movie history, which would it be and why?

I’m really excited about this technology, and I think it’d be awesome to put it in the DeLorean from Back to the Future. That movie was all about the future, and the Snapdragon Digital Chassis actually shows how amazing future technology can be.

I think the Snapdragon Digital Chassis will have a direct impact on our day-to-day lives. It will go far beyond just navigation or connecting to our phones like a lot of cars currently do — it will turn the car into a computing device.

Who would you most want to meet in the metaverse?

I have a Meta Quest 3, powered by Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2, that I use frequently, and it's mind-blowing technology. It can change reality and turn it into something else. As for who I’d want to meet in the metaverse, that’s a tough question. I think it would be cool to meet movie stars like Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. They seem like really funny and interesting people.

What future tech are you most excited for?

There’s already a futuristic technology that I’m excited about: The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, powered by Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1. They do many of the things that we can do with smartphones, like taking pictures and recording videos. But imagine when XR also integrates with it — we will be able to get navigation and things like that directly on our smart glasses. It would make our lives easier and we wouldn’t necessarily need to carry a smartphone with us. I think XR and wearables will change how we interact with technology and the world around us.
