Extras for Snapdragon Insiders
Smartwatches powered by Snapdragon Wear™ platforms are becoming an integral part of many people's daily lives. You may use your smartwatch to stay connected to family and friends, track your heart rate and calories during a workout, and, of course, tell time. But there’s so much more a Snapdragon Wear powered device can do, and that includes being creative and having a whole lot of fun. So we wanted to show you what’s possible with a little help from some friends (including a Snapdragon Insider!).
We recently partnered with GPS artist Brady Archer (@BrayDArcher on Twitter and @thearcherproject on Instagram) and his dog Huckleberry (@coloradohuck on Instagram), fitness influencer Natalie Mitchell (@Natrunsfar on Twitter and @natrunsfar on Instagram), and Snapdragon Insider Mikael Hilger (@M1K4_3L on Twitter and @miketlse on Instagram) to see what they could create with their devices and a bit of teamwork.
Each collaborator was equipped with a different wearable device made with Qualcomm technology—yes, even Huckleberry the dog—featuring unique capabilities. Using Brady’s design, each member of the group set out on their specific route to create part of the total design. Brady ran with a Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3—powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform—which has a barometer to measure altitude changes (especially helpful when running in Denver), irregular heartbeat detection, and fatigue and energy monitoring. For someone like Brady, this watch is perfect for tracking his elevation, calories, blood oxygen, and heart rate on long distance runs. And with enhanced battery life, he doesn’t have to worry about his watch dying mid-run.
As for Huckleberry—he was equipped with his very own tracker, the Tractive GPS Tracker for Dogs. With this tracker on his collar, Brady could find Huckleberry almost anywhere with worldwide location tracking. The tracker connects to an app on Brady’s phone to monitor Huckleberry’s activities, and even tracks how many calories he’s burned. The fact that it’s waterproof is an added bonus—Huckleberry’s a retriever afterall, and retrievers love to swim.
Natalie wore a Skagen Falster Gen 6, powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. Simultaneously sleek and technologically advanced, this luxe timepiece is perfect for this style and fitness conscious mom. The Skagen Falster Gen 6 lets Natalie monitor her blood oxygen level, calories, and distance when she’s running, and with fast charging (80% battery in only 30 minutes), it’s great for anyone on the go. With customizable dials, interchangeable straps, and a sleek, minimalist design, it’s also the perfect accessory for any look. As an added bonus, this watch helps Natalie keep in touch with her daughter, Elle. When Elle returns home, Natalie receives a notification and can call her directly from her watch.
Speaking of Elle, she made a cameo appearance during this project. While Natalie was out running, Elle was back at home with her own smartwatch—the Verizon Gizmowatch 2, powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform. This kid-friendly smartwatch is perfect for Elle, with features Natalie loves such as a GPS tracker and easy-to-use parental controls. Their watches let this mother and daughter duo connect with each other while Natalie’s out, giving them both peace of mind.
And finally, this project wouldn’t have been complete without a Snapdragon Insider. Mikael set out on a scooter to complete his leg of the route, wearing the Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4, a luxury smartwatch powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. This watch offers speed tracking (perfect for Mikael’s scooter ride), calorie tracking, and a fitness app with guided workouts. The elegant design combined with top-of-the-line fitness features make this watch a great fit with either a suit for a business meeting or sweats for a gym session.
With the group decked out in their Snapdragon powered smartwatches, they were able to create something amazing together. Ready to see what they made? Check out the video of the project.
From sporty to luxury, kids to pets, and everything in between, there’s a Snapdragon powered device for everyone.
