Discover how Snapdragon Sound elevates the quality of wireless audio.

Audio can make or break the immersive mobile experience. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer or the first to stream the latest videos, high-resolution sound is key. You want to hear every detail of your favorite song, absorb each layer of sound as you battle it out for the win, and get epic sound from action-packed movies. All on your phone. Does this sound like you?

Bottom line, if you’re an audiophile, then Qualcomm® Snapdragon Sound™ Technology was made for you. Our engineers stepped back and really took a look at what it takes to make a truly great digital audio experience.

To find out what it takes, we listened in as Sarah McMurray, Senior Manager, Product Marketing, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. and one of our audio experts in our voice and music product team, sat down with audio expert Juan Carlos Bagnell (aka @SomeGadgetGuy ). We reached out to our Snapdragon Insiders community to crowdsource questions for these audio experts. You can check out their chat here, and read on for highlights from their convo.

One question we received was from a Snapdragon Insider who wanted to know if wireless audio will have the same fidelity as wired headphones. We heard from Sarah that Snapdragon Sound has made significant improvements. We were able to deliver a 24-bit 96kHz audio quality file over Bluetooth, and it’s something we’re going to continue to work on. We’re not going to stop until wireless matches wired audio.

Juan and Sarah also answered the question on everyone’s mind: what about the trade-offs that come with wireless sound, such as audio stutter and reduced call quality? That concern pretty much sums up why we developed Snapdragon Sound. We’re aware that users experience latency and audio issues, so we took a systems-level approach across the entire audio chain to help ensure that no matter what users are doing, they are getting the very best experience possible using our technologies.

Another Snapdragon Insider asked what we’re doing in terms of noise cancellation. Sarah shared that we’re doing some really exciting things with noise cancellation to help our customers develop smaller form factor products that are more efficient in terms of battery consumption.

Essentially, Snapdragon Sound pulls together all the best technologies for amazing wireless sound, optimizing the entire audio chain from your ear to your phone. We used Qualcomm ® aptX ™ Adaptive Audio technology to stream audiophile-quality music from your smartphone to your wireless earbuds or headsets.

Snapdragon Sound is designed for crystal-clear voice, low-latency gaming, and, overall, a consistently robust connectivity experience that cuts down on annoying dropouts and glitches.

That’s a really high-level look at how Snapdragon Sound improves your listening experience. To learn more, listen in on Sarah and Juan’s chat.

And since you’ve read this far, we want to share something special with you. Be sure to check out the Snapdragon Sound playlist on Amazon Music HD: It’s how sound should sound.
