Thank you for your interest in working for Qualcomm Incorporated or one of its affiliates. By submitting your resume, application, and/or curriculum vitae, your personal information will be processed by Qualcomm Incorporated, a corporation organized under the laws of the state of Delaware, United States, and domiciled at 5775 Morehouse Drive, San Diego, CA 92121, U.S.A., and/or one or more of its affiliates (collectively, “Qualcomm”, “we”, or “us”).

This notice supplements and should be read in conjunction with the Qualcomm Privacy Policy available at https://www.qualcomm.com/site/privacy, and the Additional Disclosures for Individuals in the United States. For individuals applying to Qualcomm entities in the United Kingdom (“UK”) or European Economic Area (“EEA”), contact details of the respective UK and EEA data controllers are contained in the Qualcomm Privacy Policy. Where required, we may provide you with additional or supplemental privacy notices or obtain your consent for certain types of processing.

We may process the following personal data about your job application:

  • name, address, email address, phone number, username, and/or password for Qualcomm online recruitment system;
  • information contained in your resume, curriculum vitae, and/or cover letter, such as previous employment history (e.g., places worked and positions held) and education (e.g., degrees obtained and relevant awards);
  • any information you provide in your application for employment with us, including gender and veteran status, or that you provide during interviews or meetings with us;
  • IT information from your visit to our website using “cookies” and other similar tracking technologies;
  • responses you provide and inferences drawn from those responses in relation to any candidate assessments you may complete;
  • names and contact information for references;
  • content of postal mail, emails, text messages, and/or other electronic messages you may exchange with us about your application;
  • scheduling, travel, and expense information related to any interviews or meetings with us;
  • photos or images of you; and
  • any other information you provide for our consideration.

In certain countries or regions, we may collect personal information, under applicable laws for legitimate reasons, that may be deemed sensitive. For example, in the United States, provided that you voluntarily share such data with us, we may collect race and ethnicity data, disability status, and login credentials for the Qualcomm online recruitment system, which may be considered sensitive personal information. For certain roles, we may need to check records regarding your potential criminal history, credit, and bankruptcies for screening purposes. In the event we seek such records, you will be provided with additional notice and consent forms, as required by applicable laws. Unless we explicitly request such information, we recommend that you do not disclose sensitive personal information (e.g., gender, racial or ethnic origin, religious, philosophical, or political beliefs, sexual orientation, biometric data, health information, financial information, etc.) in your resume/curriculum vitae or communications to Qualcomm.

We may also collect certain information about you from other sources, including background check data from third-party sources (with additional notice and consent, as required by applicable laws), and the information provided by your references.

Purposes of Personal Data Processing

Your personal information will be processed for the following purposes:

  • recruitment, selection, evaluation, and employment by Qualcomm (whether temporary or permanent);
  • verifying your identity, past employment and/or education, certifications, or professional qualifications and licenses, checking references, and confirming your ability to legally work in the country in which you are applying;
  • conducting surveys or questionnaires related to your application experience;
  • communicating with you in relation to your job application;
  • analyzing hiring trends and success rates;
  • complying with Qualcomm’s legal obligations; and
  • as further described in Qualcomm’s Privacy Policy or any other supplemental or jurisdiction-specific notices we provide to you.

If we offer you a job opportunity and you accept it, your personal information will become part of your employment record and will be used for employment purposes and retained by Qualcomm.

Lawful Basis for Processing

We will process your personal information only when the law allows us to do so. Where you are applying to a Qualcomm entity in the UK or EEA, we will process your personal information in reliance on the lawful basis of legitimate interests, given we have a legitimate interest in processing your personal information to consider your application, interest, and suitability in working at Qualcomm.

Disclosures to Third Parties

Qualcomm may engage third-party service providers during the recruiting process and may disclose your personal information accordingly with such entities for the purposes as specified above. We may also disclose your personal information to third-party data sources, such as consumer reporting agencies, background check providers, and your references, in order to obtain personal information about you from those sources.

We may also disclose your personal information for the purposes specified in the Disclosure of Personal Information section of Qualcomm Privacy Policy.

Data Retention and Your Rights

We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above. If you are unsuccessful in your application, we may retain your personal information in our talent pool in order to contact you for any potential recruitment opportunities at Qualcomm that we think may be of interest. We may also need to keep your personal information to meet our recordkeeping legal requirements or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of potential legal claims.

Automated Decision Making

We use an AI-powered matching model tool in the hiring process to assist in predicting the degree of match between you and our available job positions based on factors such as the skills specified in the job description and our selection criteria. When analyzing your application, the matching model will use personal information, such as your work experiences, education, skills, and other information included in your application described in the Categories of Personal Information Collected and Processed  section above. We do not make the decision about your application solely based on this model output. More information about this tool can be found at https://eightfold.ai/NYC-Eightfold-Matching-Model/, and you may check the results of an independent bias audit summary of this tool here https://eightfold.ai/wp-content/uploads/eightfold-summary-of-bias-audit-results.pdf. In addition, we may also use an automated keyword search function, where the system scans your application, resume, and/or curriculum vitae for keywords or phrases to prioritize further consideration to those containing such keywords or phrases. If you have any questions about these automated processes or would like to request an alternative selection process, please send an email to [email protected].

Your Rights

You can request to access, update, or correct your job application data by sending your request to [email protected]. You also may have additional rights under applicable law. You may find more details in Qualcomm Privacy Policy of those rights available to you, including how to exercise other data subject rights. Requesting deletion of all of your personal information may impact Qualcomm’s ability to appropriately consider your application for a role, which may ultimately remove you from consideration for recruitment.
