2022 officially sets off the 5G Advanced evolution — the second wave of wireless innovations that will fulfill the 5G vision. It will build on the solid foundation set by Releases 15, 16, and 17, and it sets the longer-term evolution direction of 5G and beyond. We will continue to see the global proliferation of 5G networks and devices, as well as the expansion of 5G into new services, spectrum, and verticals.

12/14 5G Technology is Key to Closing the Digital Divide: Qualcomm Report

As it continues to play a major role in the world’s digital transformation, 5G technology also holds the potential to close the digital divide, ushering in a more connected and intelligent tomorrow, Qualcomm Incorporated said today in a new white paper. Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Siemens Smart Infrastructure are working together to reimagine building automation by applying 5G private network (PN), based on the Snapdragon® X55 5G Modem-RF System in the Americas. 11/29 It’s 2022 and we’re already thinking about the evolution of 5G Advanced to 6G

2022 has been an exciting year for mobile communications. Not only was the third 5G standard — 3GPP Release 17 — successfully completed bringing many 5G innovations, but the work on 5G Advanced has also officially begun. Through the rest of this decade, 5G Advanced will continue to improve end-to-end system performance, bring new efficiencies, and proliferate 5G into more devices and use cases.
