# Year of advancing 5G into the new decade

2021 will see continued global expansion of 5G devices and networks. As 5G continues to evolve, this year will be marked for advancing 5G with new system capabilities as well as expansion into vertical industries such as smart manufacturing, automotive, and more.
Vertical industries and new applications will benefit from enhanced indoor/outdoor positioning, advances in sub-7 GHz massive MIMO and mobile mmWave, sidelink technology applied in 5G V2X and Industrial IoT, multi-user immersive XR applications, and so on.
