As one of the most cutting-edge mobile processors ever created, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 821 processor with X12 LTE builds on the momentum of our Snapdragon 820 processor. It is designed to support superior connectivity, graphics, photography, power and battery efficiency and helps set a new bar for smartphones, tablets, mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays and more.

Snapdragon X12 LTE

The Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X12 LTE modem offers 3x faster peak upload speeds and 33% faster peak download speeds compared to those of X10 LTE.

Kryo CPU and Hexagon 680 DSP

The new Qualcomm® Kryo™ CPU has 2x performance and efficiency when compared to the CPU of the Snapdragon 810 processor. The Snapdragon 821 goes even further with up to 10% performance increase over the 820 processor. The new Qualcomm® Hexagon™ 680 DSP is also designed to bring significant improvement to performance and battery life.

Adreno 530 GPU

The Qualcomm® Adreno™ 530 GPU offers 40% improvement to graphics performance, compute capabilities, and power usage when compared to Adreno 430—giving the Snapdragon 821 processor a 5% performance bump over the 820 processor.

Spectra Camera ISP

14-bit Qualcomm Spectra™ Image Signal Processor (ISP) supports the capture of up to 28 megapixels with zero shutter lag.

Powerful Kryo CPU

As our first custom-designed 64-bit quad-core CPU, the Kryo CPU uses Qualcomm® Symphony System Manager as an intelligent resource management tool for Snapdragon that extends control of task scheduling and power management across the entire processor, with a 10% bump in performance from the Snapdragon 820 processor to the 821 processor, supporting shorter boot times, faster app launch times, and smoother, more responsive user interactions.

Efficient Hexagon 680 DSP

Significant improvement to the Qualcomm Hexagon 680 digital signal processor (DSP) enables the CPU to offload many tasks for more efficient processing. Featuring Qualcomm All-Ways Aware™ technology, the Hexagon 680 DSP also allows for ultra-low power “always-on” sensors and advanced low power-image processing.

As our highest performance GPU yet, the Adreno 530 in the Snapdragon 821 processor along with the Kryo CPU are capable of generating photorealistic graphics for console-quality gaming and next-generation virtual reality apps, while delivering up to 40% improvement to graphics performance and compute capabilities when compared to the Adreno 430, and 5% speed increase over Snapdragon 820.

The Snapdragon 821 processor harnesses the newest innovations in mobile photography to redefine today’s camera capabilities, including Qualcomm® Clear Sight™ camera features and Dual Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF).
