In preparation for a Thanksgiving feast, we’ve cooked up some helpful ways to make sure your holiday is full of great memories and less stress. Simply follow these steps for success with apps for your tablet or smartphone (we recommend one powered by the multitasking all-in-one Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor).
1. Plan ahead

Satisfy every sweet tooth and bring your Thanksgiving meal to a sweet end with Dessert Recipes by NetSummitApps for Android filled with over 325 dessert items sorted by category. Video tutorials also provide step-by-step recipe instructions for perfecting your techniques.
Planning ahead can help ensure smooth sailing when it’s time to start cooking. Try these convenient meal-planning apps to help put your plan into place.
Food Planner by MiniMobile for Android helps you plan your Thanksgiving Day meal, and the meals for the days before and after so you make the most of your ingredients and nothing goes to waste. You can also quickly add meals for the recipes you’ve decided to make, and arrange them in the order you’ll be chowing down.
What’s for Dinner? by Snazzy Software for Android lets you choose recipes from FoodNetwork.com, Epicurious.com, Allrecipes.com and MyRecipes.com, or enter recipes you’ve already picked out. Once you’ve added all your delicious choices, organize meals in the order you want for a 3, 5 or 12-course Thanksgiving Day meal.
Holiday menu and plan in hand, it’s time to go shopping. Scratch the crumpled grocery lists and try out one of these super simple grocery apps for less shopping stress.
Grocery List from Buy Me a Pie! for Android is a handy little app that lets you color code all your items by food type (i.e. produce, dairy, meat) so you can quickly pick out all the things you need from each isle. Once you’ve dropped an item in your cart, feel the satisfaction of physically crossing an item off your list just by tapping it on the screen and watch it slowly disappear along with the length of your list.
Shopping List by maloii for Android is a simple, but effective shopping list that lets you add items by scanning a barcode, using voice command and manually entering when something pops into your head. Once you make your list, highlight important items, and tap to cross off items.
3. Cook & Bake
There aren’t any apps (yet) that can do the cooking for you, but some techy tablet cooking tools can help you make the most of your tablet sous chef, and keep it clean and safe from any Thanksgiving spills.
Designed to make it easier to watch cooking videos, search for recipes, listen to music and even video chat while you cook, Williams-Sonoma Smart Tools Kitchen Stand for Tablets is the perfect way to support your Thanksgiving cooking festivities. Tilt your tablet horizontally or vertically to fit it on the stand or place it flat on the nonslip surface. It even includes a notch in back for your power cord since you’ll likely be cooking for long hours the day of your feast.
For something a little less techy, and a little more rustic, check out Cuisine Tablet Holder from Pottery Barn that comes with an easel stand in the back, and a raised lip in front to hold your tablet in place.
4. Give thanks
This Thanksgiving, there are also lots of easy ways to help others by donating using one of these charity apps for Android.
One Today by Google is an app built for startup nonprofits hoping to help others. Like Kickstarter for charities, One Today asks that you donate $1 to help the charities of your choice become successful. All proceeds you give are tax-deductible and donations are processed through Google Wallet with one easy click.
Give 2 Charity by Placed is an app that doesn’t require your money, just your location data. By opting in to pool your data with thousands of other users, you can provide meaningful insights to third parties about location-based mobile data. In turn, you will earn points everyday that you can redeem in the form of money for donating to charities like Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Action Against Hunger, Sierra Club, Humane Society and Kiva just by downloading the app. Also earn bonus points for referring friends, linking your social networks and answering survey questions.
Charity Miles by Charity Miles allows you to earn money while burning off those extra bites of pumpkin pie. After you choose from one of the charities that include Wounded Warrior Project, Autism Speaks, Stand Up 2 Cancer or Feeding America, hit the streets and earn 10 cents per mile biking and 25 cents per mile for walking and running. Run, bike or walk up to $1 million in donations, and help Charity Miles attract more sponsors to donate on behalf of everyone that wants to participate.
Happy Cooking & Thanksgiving!
