It's a big week for Nokia. Yesterday they announced their flagship Lumia 925, available in the US later this summer exclusively through T-Mobile. The news comes on the heels of last week's announcement of the Lumia 928, to be released exclusively with Verizon later this week, and they're both powered by Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors.
The Lumia 925 features a few new twists that may make it the phone to beat especially when it comes to taking photos. Nokia has added a sixth lens to its 8.7MP camera to better capture natural light while still taking exceptional photos in low light. The Lumia 925 will also be the first to feature Nokia Smart Camera. This new software captures 10 images at once and then lets you choose from three new modes – Best Shot, the Action Shot, or the Motion Focus.
- Best Shot: composes a shot from the best elements of several images
- Action Shot: especially good for sports shots, this captures a series of shots and then shares them as a sequence
- Motion Focus: lets users blur different elements in the photo after it's taken to highlight the focus
The Lumia 925 is also the first Nokia phone to include an aluminum frame that makes the phone lighter and gives it a sleek, metallic finish. The aluminum frame borders the 4.5-inch AMOLED screen with ClearBlack tech – so you can see more clearly in bright outdoor light and still operate the super-sensitive touchscreen with gloves on.
Underneath that beautiful display is a super-powerful Snapdragon S4 processor, designed to enable superior performance with minimal impact on battery life.
The 928 also takes stunning photos and when it comes to video, there are few that can match it. It captures 1080p quality with full HD and includes three microphones to capture great sound, distortion free, even in loud places like stadiums. Whether you're playing back your own videos or listening to music, the 928 also has some of the most advanced loudspeakers on the market that play amazing quality sound at 1-2 decibels louder than other devices.
A beautiful 4.5-inch AMOLED display that looks great indoors and out, even in bright light, and under the hood the Snapdragon S4 processor powers it all and gives you great battery life.
All told, these new Lumia devices add to Nokia’s growing command of photo taking expertise on the smartphone.
