Launch of the Agentic RAN Management Service
The Agentic RAN Management Service, part of the field-proven Dragonwing RAN Automation Suite, moves beyond automation, establishing a path to 6G-grade autonomous networks while delivering value to commercial networks with RAN AI agents and tools available today.
The service establishes an Agentic Layer with a team of RAN AI Agents, each a specialist on different aspects of network operations, that work together as a team to collaboratively monitor network conditions, analyze issues, generate and test action plans and autonomously execute changes in a closed-loop Agentic RAN Management system. A key component of the Agentic RAN service is that the RAN AI Agents have access to a robust RAN AI toolkit that equips them with specialized capabilities and insights. Examples of the available RAN AI tools include rApp Marketplace, Quality of Experience Insights, Digital Twin & AI Simulation, Advanced Analytics and more.
The Agentic RAN framework builds on the Dragonwing RAN Automation Suite’s multi-vendor, multi-generation, and multi-topology foundation, enabling operators to apply AI-driven optimization seamlessly across their entire heterogeneous network. Already deployed by Tier 1 operators worldwide, this unified foundation now accelerates three new RAN AI features – Autonomous Demand-based RAN Adaptation (including for Fixed Wireless Access), Autonomous RAN Supervision and RAN Energy Management - bringing measurable performance and efficiency gains to commercial networks. At the same time, the Agentic RAN Management System provides the overarching architecture that moves beyond individual features, establishing a clear path toward full 6G grade network autonomy.
RAN AI Portfolio Now Available on Commercial Platforms
Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of a new set of advanced RAN AI features on its commercial RU and DU RAN platforms. These features enable operators to utilize AI to drive performance improvements and OPEX reduction without the need for hardware refresh cycles.
The new RAN AI capabilities include:
- AI-Driven Uplink Adaptation Available on: Dragonwing QDU100 Telco Server Platform
AI-Driven Uplink Adaptation uses machine learning to continuously learn from real network conditions and dynamically adjust uplink parameters, overcoming the limits of more slowly adapting algorithms. This faster adaptation improves coverage at cell edges, boosts capacity in congested areas, reduces dropped connections, and increases spectrum efficiency in presence of bursty traffic—delivering more reliable uplink performance. - AI-Driven Downlink Beamforming Channel Prediction Available on: Dragonwing QRU100 Radio Unit Platform and QDU100 Telco Server Platform
AI-Driven Downlink Beamforming Channel Prediction uses AI and machine learning to anticipate what channel conditions will exist, enabling proactive, highly accurate beamforming that stays ahead of mobility and changing radio environments. This improves throughput, coverage, spectral efficiency, and performance in dense or high-mobility scenarios—delivering tighter, more precise beams that follow users seamlessly and significantly enhance massive MIMO effectiveness. - AI‑Driven Factory Calibration Available on: Dragonwing QRU100 Radio Unit Platform
AI-Driven Factory Calibration enhances radio unit calibration by using machine learning to learn optimal tuning patterns across large volumes of units, replacing time-consuming processes with fast, consistent, and highly accurate optimization. This dramatically speeds deployments, improves manufacturing efficiency and quality, reduces operational complexity when activating new sites, and enables rapid network expansion for 5G—and eventually 6G—deployments.
With the Agentic RAN Management Service and production-ready RAN AI portfolio, Qualcomm Technologies is equipping operators with tools to unlock meaningful performance and efficiency gains today, while preparing them for the AI economy and 6G future.
