Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the Europe regional winners of its 2012 QPrize™ venture investment competition. Everplaces, based in Denmark, and Pult, based in Estonia, earned top honors among a total of sixteen companies from Europe who competed in front of a panel of industry judges at the Google Campus earlier this week. Everplaces and Pult each received €100,000 in venture financing from Qualcomm to help the companies expand their businesses. The winners were selected based on their product innovation, financial viability and the strength of their management teams. The victory enables Everplaces and Pult to now compete against other regional champions for an additional $150,000 in venture financing in the QPrize Global Grand Prize competition, taking place in the first quarter of 2013 in San Francisco.
Everplaces allows consumers to save and share places they love and create a personal travel collection. Pult enables smartphones to be used as an ID and remote control to stream personal and commercial content to connected screens.
“Everplaces and Pult truly stand out among the newest generation of up-and-coming entrepreneurs. As QPrize competitors, they demonstrated an impressive combination of technical accomplishment and managerial leadership,” said Nagraj Kashyap, vice president of Qualcomm Ventures, the venture investment arm of Qualcomm Technologies, Incorporated. “We congratulate them on this huge achievement and look forward to seeing their development and participation in the Grand Prize competition.”
