3G CDMA service in Japan started with the launch of the world's first WCDMA commercial service by NTT DOCOMO, INC. in October 2001, followed by the CDMA2000® 1X launch by KDDI CORPORATION in April 2002, the WCDMA launch by SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. in December 2002, and the HSDPA launch by EMOBILE Ltd. in March 2007.
