Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of business-to-business wireless enterprise applications and services, today announced the immediate availability of the GlobalTRACS® equipment management solution for the European construction industry. Available in the United States for four years, it has been modified to meet the specific needs of the European construction equipment industry and supports features required for both security and fleet management applications.
Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS solution has been successfully tested by OEMs and rental companies in Western and Eastern European countries including Bobcat Europe, which has been working directly with Qualcomm to validate the use of the technology and services for Bobcat equipment in Europe. OEMs will now be able to provide their dealers and customers throughout Europe with advanced telematics capabilities that can help them realize significant benefits such as productivity improvements, cost savings and increased revenue opportunity.
“We are very excited about the launch of the GlobalTRACS solution in Europe. This solution offers customers a technology investment that will benefit them now and in the future,” said Laurent Vandebrouck, director of European construction equipment services, Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “In the United States, leading rental companies such as Kohler Rental Power, which have deployed the GlobalTRACS solution on their mobile generators, have been able to reduce their risk of theft, reduce maintenance costs and increase their revenues. European rental companies, dealers and contractors now have the opportunity to gain these same benefits.”
“Emeco Europe was looking for a global partner and provider for its telematics services,” said Greg Graham, managing director of Emeco Europe, a leading heavy equipment rental company with worldwide operations. “We have chosen Qualcomm and its GlobalTRACS solution for our European operations because they provide Emeco with a proven and rugged telematics solution compliant with our needs for remote access to construction equipment monitoring and utilization. Additionally, GlobalTRACS will allow us to deploy the same service everywhere at anytime, thereby enhancing the security, availability and profitability of our investments on a long-term and on a global basis.”
Designed for factory or after-market installation on all equipment makes and models, the GlobalTRACS solution automatically collects, wirelessly transmits and manages critical operational data to give users the power to manage their equipment and not just track it. This information can be accessed via an easy-to-use, Web-based application or can be integrated into existing back-end business software systems.
The solution includes:
· Detailed engine hours reporting to better manage scheduled maintenance, detect over-utilized or misused machines, and redeploy underutilized equipment
· GPS locations to help service technicians and drivers find equipment quickly
· Utilization and maintenance management reports to reduce operational costs
· Virtual fences and security alerts to reduce the risk of theft and support theft recovery
· Critical machine-health monitoring to reduce equipment downtime and catastrophic failure
· Self-contained hardware designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions for reliability and durability
· Easy back-office software integration for added productivity improvement
Qualcomm has a network of dedicated field engineers, customer support staff and software integration teams throughout Europe and North America. It is the only telematics service provider with service availability and reliability on a continent-wide basis, which includes 24/7 customer service support, redundant network operations centers and a multi-language telephone hotline.
