Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, today announced that it has been approved by KEMA-Registered Quality, Inc. as the first U.S. company to achieve advanced status for registration to ISO 9001:2000. Advanced registration status is for companies with mature quality management systems (QMS) that have been certified to ISO 9001 for many years with outstanding performance, in accordance with the Advanced Surveillance and Reassessment Procedures (ASRP) requirements defined by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) standard IAF GD 2:2005.

“Recognition of the maturity and rigor of Qualcomm's QMS demonstrates our commitment to develop and deliver the highest quality wireless products and solutions to our partners and customers,” said Paul Guckian, vice president of engineering for Qualcomm's Engineering Regulatory Group. “As the first U.S. company to achieve this significant milestone, we are raising the bar in quality management.”

With the rapid expansion of the wireless market, companies are under increased pressure to meet delivery deadlines and quality standards. Qualcomm collaborates with KEMA-Registered Quality, Inc., a third-party ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board accredited registrar, to ensure Qualcomm's ability to produce the high-quality products and services its customers expect. “Being the first to achieve this status amongst other high-performance, quality-driven, international companies is a benchmark achievement and an outstanding recognition for Qualcomm,” said Pierre Sallé, president of KEMA-Registered Quality, Inc.

“For more than 11 years, we have certified Qualcomm to the ISO 9000 standards and collaborated with them in the development of advanced methodologies for assessment of quality management systems,” says Lindsey Waddell, product development manager at KEMA- Registered Quality. “ASRP is based on an organization's ability to consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements. Qualcomm's innovation in advanced QMS and unwavering commitment to its customers meet the requirements of ASRP. Qualcomm customers and partners can be confident that they will continue to benefit from Qualcomm's innovation and excellence in quality management systems.”
