Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of business-to-business wireless enterprise applications and services, today announced the release of its GlobalTRACS® system's 4.0 upgrade, an enhanced version of the Company's highly successful equipment management system. The system upgrade is a software and over-the-air firmware update resulting in two new major features - maintenance profiles and curfew security.

The new multiple maintenance profile feature provides notifications when maintenance is due for various types of service on a piece of equipment. Users can now identify multiple service points scheduled at different intervals-such as changing oil at 500 hours and a brake inspection at 1,000 hours-rather than receive a generic maintenance notification. This feature helps reduce the costs of inadequate, late or excessive servicing and expands the GlobalTRACS system to include the power of integrated maintenance management software.

The new engine-start curfew function allows customers to define the acceptable range of time that an engine can run. Another function of the curfew security feature allows customers to establish a time-sensitive electronic curfew boundary around each piece of their equipment. A curfew boundary break or an off-hours engine start alerts a customer when their machine is moved or started after business hours. The GlobalTRACS system's new maintenance profiles and curfew security upgrades increase customers' equipment security, reduce costs, increase productivity and contribute to overall profitability.

Qualcomm's Network Operations Center supports the GlobalTRACS system customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a proactive procedure in place for equipment tracking and recovery once a machine has been reported stolen. Additionally, an upcoming service provided jointly by Qualcomm and National Equipment Register will provide customers with more advanced theft protection and recovery capabilities.

“Qualcomm is proud to announce these enhancements to the GlobalTRACS system,” said Larry Cleary, vice president and general manager for the construction equipment group at Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. “These additional features will improve our customers' asset management and equipment security - two critical areas for construction equipment companies.”

The GlobalTRACS equipment management system tracks, protects and manages equipment by providing actionable, operational and location information, as well as critical system alerts such as engine overheat. The data can be accessed via an easy-to-use, Web-based application or integrated into existing back-end business software systems. GPS-based location data makes it easier to locate equipment and includes maps and directions. This information helps service technicians find equipment faster and enables pick-up and delivery drivers to quickly locate equipment.

Detailed engine hours information and data collected from critical systems monitoring helps companies to better schedule preventive and emergency maintenance, which decreases equipment downtime and increases revenue. In addition to alerts about machine health, users can receive alerts when fuel is low. Up-to-the minute engine-hour data shows exactly when equipment is running, which helps to identify underutilized equipment that can be re-deployed to increase productivity and profits.

The GlobalTRACS system is designed for factory or after-market installation on all equipment makes and models and is designed to meet the demanding requirements of equipment manufacturers, OEMs and buyers.
