At the Telecom Israel show and conference, senior Qualcomm officials will present a variety of technologies for 3G networks, some of which were developed in the research and development center in Israel. Many of the technologies Qualcomm will present at the show are in the midst of trials with operators around the world.
Demonstrations of Qualcomm's technology solutions presented during the show will include:
Mobile TV: The MediaFLO™ system is a mobile broadcast solution that uses standardized FLO™ technology. The system enables the efficient distribution of high-quality, live TV and audio content simultaneously to millions of mobile devices. The MediaFLO system enables operators to broadcast up to 20 streaming video channels, 10 audio channels, a wide range of formats including linear video streams, linear audio streams, and multiple distributed, short-format video clips.
OFDM-based Mobile Broadband: FLASH-OFDM is a commercially deployed, innovative air interface technology designed for the delivery of advanced Internet services in the mobile environment. Qualcomm is the first wireless technology company in the world to offer a working commercial solution of this kind.
3D Gaming: Advanced handsets will feature premium BREW® 3D games and demos of developer-branded, off-device shopping. The games were all developed using Qualcomm's BREW solution, leveraging the Q3Dimension™ engine, and are characterized by rich graphics and a high level of interactivity.
uiOne™: Personalization services enabled by the uiOne solution include multi-language capabilities and customization options to create a rich, integrated experience for end users around the globe.
3G Radio Access Points: Qualcomm's research and development center in Israel is responsible for the development of a tiny access point (the size of a mobile PC) for the new generation of radio systems (EV-DO Rev. A). The new radio system enables data download speeds of 3.1 Mbps and upload speeds of 1.8 Mbps. This performance accelerates the response time and responsiveness of applications such as instant messaging, multimedia applications, VoIP and more.
Next-Generation Chipsets: The Qualcomm chipsets significantly increase performance of next-generation mobile phones. The new chips are planned to be incorporated into mobile devices that work on CDMA2000®/EV-DO and UMTS/HSDPA networks.
