Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, today announced that MediaFLOTM USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm, and Network LIVE, a joint venture between AOL, XM Satellite Radio and AEG, have signed a multi-year commercial agreement to provide Network LIVE content and programming for MediaFLO USA's wireless multimedia service offering.
Network LIVE will develop and distribute programming, including live and prerecorded concerts, with a blend of established and breakthrough artists, interviews with musical performers, comedy performances and other special events, via MediaFLO USA, making Network LIVE content available to MediaFLO USA wireless operator partners. Network LIVE content is captured in high-definition and Dolby 5.1 surround sound. With this agreement in place, Network LIVE has extended its reach as the first worldwide horizontal network, committed to delivering live programming across all major entertainment consumption platforms in the United States including Internet, radio, television and mobile phones.
In addition to deploying and operating a nationwide media delivery network, MediaFLO USA is aggregating wireless multimedia content for service delivery on the network. Leveraging the multicasting capabilities of MediaFLO USA's service, wireless operators can provide this high-quality multimedia content - such as live performances by superstar, platinum and breakthrough artists from Network LIVE - to millions of subscribers across the United States at the same time.
