Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in providing wireless data solutions, today announced it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with the Bobcat Company, the worldwide leader in compact equipment. Terms of the agreement include the endorsement of Qualcomm as an approved provider of telematics products for the Bobcat® lines of equipment.
“This agreement provides our customers with the option of purchasing Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS solution through the extensive Bobcat dealer network. GlobalTRACS can be used on the full Bobcat line of compact equipment, including compact track loaders, skid-steer loaders, all-wheel steer loaders, compact excavators, Toolcat™ utility work machines, utility vehicles and more,” stated Lane Weber, sales manager for Bobcat.
“This agreement will allow Bobcat, the world leader in compact equipment, to provide their dealers and customers with a Bobcat-endorsed equipment management system that gives them significant benefits, including productivity improvements, cost-savings and increased revenue opportunity,” said Chris Wolfe, president of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions.
The GlobalTRACS equipment management solution is designed to meet the demanding requirements of construction equipment manufacturers. The GlobalTRACS solution collects, manages and transmits equipment operating status and location data, which can be accessed via an easy-to-use Web-based application or integrated into existing back-end business software systems.
Other advantages of Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS include the ability for engine hours to be reported on demand or at automated intervals. Security management is also a key feature of the system, as the GlobalTRACS solution allows users to create virtual boundaries, or “geo-fences,” with both entry and exit alerts. Upgrades to the system can be completed remotely, meaning the owner/manager will not fall behind the technology curve.
Additionally, Bobcat's customers can integrate Qualcomm's OmniTRACS® and OmniExpress® wireless fleet management solutions with their service and delivery vehicles to provide best-of-class customer service and response times, while further improving the efficiencies of delivery and service truck dispatch and operations. With the GlobalTRACS and OmniTRACS systems linked, customers will significantly increase the productivity, efficiency and safety of their operations by eliminating manual paperwork and adding controls.
