Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, congratulates Movilnet Venezuela, a Cantv company and provider of products and services for voice, data, Internet access, cellular telephony and telephone directories, on its commercial launch of CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO services in Venezuela. The third-generation (3G), high-speed data network, marketed under the name 'ABA Movil,' will be available to customers in 80 percent of the metropolitan area of Caracas, as well as principal areas in Vargas State. The rollout of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO will allow Movilnet to offer mobile high-speed data applications and services to its subscribers, providing them instant access to the information they need wherever they may be. Movilnet will also be able to provide a fixed wireless service for customers' home or office, meeting the needs for a cost-efficient, secure connection equivalent to broadband for accessing the Internet at anytime.

“We are very pleased that Movilnet has commercially launched its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network. They have been offering true 3G services since their deployment of CDMA2000 1x in November 2002, including compelling wireless data applications and services based on Qualcomm's BREW solution, since April 2004,” said Carlos Rivera, vice president of business development for Qualcomm. “CDMA2000 1xEV-DO will allow Movilnet to further differentiate their service offerings and provide Venezuelan subscribers a more personalized and enriched wireless experience.”

“CDMA2000 1xEV-DO will allow our clients to enjoy exceptionally high-quality, high- speed wireless data applications and services in a cost efficient manner in the home, office or in the field,” said Gustavo Antonetti, vice president of Commercial Operations for Movilnet. “Since we launched CDMA2000 1x in 2002, 3G CDMA has been a key factor in our success and we remain confident that 1xEV-DO will enable us to maintain our leadership position and bring superior value-added and innovative products to our clients.”

CDMA2000 1xEV-DO is a data-optimized evolution of CDMA2000 that provides multi-megabit peak rates and average rates of hundreds of kilobits per second at a lower cost per bit than any other 3G technology available today, an increasingly important factor as wireless services become richer in content. Qualcomm supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO with a broad range of chipsets and system software solutions, such as the MSM5500™, MSM6500™, MSM6550™, MSM6800™ and MSM7500™. These highly integrated chipsets enable a variety of wireless devices, including wireless handsets, camera phones, PDAs and PC cards for use in laptop and handheld computers, and an array of applications meeting the needs of businesses and consumers.

Qualcomm's CDMA2000 1xEV-DO solutions harness the true value of high data networks by supporting the advanced feature set of Qualcomm's Launchpad™ suite of technologies, encompassing advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location, user interface and removable storage capabilities.
