Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the opening of a BREW Developer Lab in Mumbai, India. The new lab, one of nine BREW developer labs worldwide, will provide Indian application developers access to the latest BREW-enabled handsets, software and testing tools. In addition, the lab provides developers access to hands-on technical support from Qualcomm. Developers will also be able to attend a three-day BREW workshop following the opening of the lab.
“We are pleased that Qualcomm recognizes India’s strong developer community and its role in growing the global wireless market,” said Mahesh Prasad, president of the Applications &
Solutions Group for Reliance Infocomm. “Qualcomm’s new BREW Developer Lab in Mumbai furthers Reliance’s efforts to nurture the developer community in India through the Dhirubhai Ambani Developer Programme (DADP), which has already created exceptional market-relevant applications for the mobile space. We support Qualcomm in this initiative and look forward to working with BREW developers to deliver entertaining and useful content in India.”
The BREW solution includes a variety of powerful features via its powerful client software and backend BREW Distribution System (BDS). Publishers and developers can take advantage of these features to create and monetize innovative mobile applications. Key capabilities include the ability to develop 3D games easily; flexible pricing options such as value billing that enable additional incremental revenue opportunities; and the chance to reach new users through a variety of new shopping options available soon.
“Qualcomm’s new lab in Mumbai is a great addition to the tools, resources and global marketplace Qualcomm offers application developers in India,” said Mr. Amit Bose, president of telecom, Tata Teleservices. “Our customers demand a compelling wireless experience that offers a number of applications and services. The BREW Developer Lab provides the resources needed to help create advanced applications more quickly and easily.”
“Qualcomm established the developer lab in India to support the creation of compelling, locally developed wireless data applications,” said Kanwalinder Singh, president of Qualcomm India. “The opening of this developer lab in India is a sign of Qualcomm’s continued commitment to providing developers the necessary support and tools they need to
