Qualcomm Incorporated(Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in wireless data solutions for the transportation industry, today announced the Company has collaborated with Mattingly Foods Inc., to create an automated activity-based payroll solution that integrates with its FleetAdvisor fleet management system. In designing this solution, Mattingly Foods worked closely with the Qualcomm Professional Services team, a group within the Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions division that provides tailored application installation, systems integration, testing, phased implementation training and complete project management of value-added solutions for Qualcomm's truckload and private fleet customers.
The automated activity-based payroll solution provides an integrated set of business rules for customer-defined operations activities and determines driver pay based on those activities. This activity-based pay system enables Mattingly Foods to pay or reward drivers based on achieving objectives related to idling, overspeeds and over-revs. By linking driver compensation to driver productivity, Mattingly Foods is able to lower fuel costs for improved company profitability. The payroll module includes automated drivers' reimbursements for approved cash-based transactions. With this new solution, Mattingly Foods will be able to reduce overpays, increase driver satisfaction by accurately calculating pay and cut the processing time of payroll.
"We are pleased that Mattingly Foods worked with our Professional Services team to develop and implement this tailored payroll solution, which will increase their return on investment in a short period of time," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. "Qualcomm's solution has enabled Mattingly Foods to gain real value from their data by automating costly fleet processes that impact a company's operational efficiency."
"Mattingly Foods identified a need to move to an activity-based pay model, and by working with Qualcomm to create an application for our business needs, we're seeing amazing results," said Brandon Hess, vice president and secretary treasurer of Mattingly Foods Inc. "Our previous payroll system was costly and inefficient. Now it takes us three hours, not several days, to process payroll, and it is much more accurate than it used to be."
Mattingly Foods Inc. is in its third generation as a family-owned and operated company. As a company, they have served the food service industry for over 50 years. Today, Mattingly Foods serves customers in a 19-state area using a modern fleet of trucks, a crew of professional drivers, state-of-the-art inventory and logistics planning all from one warehouse, in Zanesville, Ohio.
