Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced that the Company will demonstrate its QChat push-to-chat solution, which features a call set-up latency of less than one second, at the IIR Push-to-Talk World Summit, March 29-April 1 in London. QChat enables person-to-person and person-to-group communication between subscribers at the touch of a button. Qualcomm will demonstrate the QChat technology running over a CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO network (Release 0 with QoS software enhancements) during the conference, its first public demonstration of the QChat solution running on the Company’s data-optimized 3G network.

"Customers of push-to-chat services expect rapid connectivity with their co-workers and friends, and Qualcomm is offering that essential element of low latency to operators — in a manner that is superior to other push-to-chat technologies currently on the market," said Peggy Johnson, president of Qualcomm Internet Services. "Not only is QChat technology optimal when paired with CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, but it is a seamless upgrade for operators who deploy BREWChat on their current CDMA2000 1X networks. QChat technology provides for quick call initiation, and also minimizes interaction delays during chat sessions."

At the show, Qualcomm will also demonstrate international push-to-chat calls with the QChat solution. Tapping open push-to-chat technology standards, QChat can enable push-to-chat calls across country boundaries with similar call performance as in-country calls.

The QChat solution enables quick push-to-chat functionality on 3G CDMA wireless devices and networks, and offers superior call set-up performance and bandwidth savings in comparison to other push-to-chat approaches. The QChat client software is written as an application for Qualcomm’s BREW™ solution and offers dynamic, over-the-air upgrades of handset software, management of group membership by subscribers and ad-hoc creation of chat groups.
