BEIJING -- November 18, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, China Unicom, a major wireless service provider in China, and Unicom-BREW Telecommunication Technologies, the joint venture between China Unicom and Qualcomm, today jointly announced the kick-off of BREW 2003 - China Developers Conference at Crowne Plaza North Beijing Hotel in Beijing, China. The three-day conference is designed to bring together application developers, operators, handset manufacturers and other industry professionals from across China to discuss the business opportunities and positive results enabled by Qualcomm's BREW™ system, which provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain.
The focus of the conference is on providing attendees with an opportunity to learn more about how to best take advantage of what the BREW system has to offer and hear about the vision of the industry from China Unicom, Qualcomm and Unicom-BREW. Conference participants will also hear presentations relating to the success of BREW-based products and services both in China and overseas markets. The conference agenda will also provide a perspective on the wireless data market in China, at a time when there is major international focus on the competitiveness of the Chinese economy and business as well as the development and deployment of mobile telecommunications in China, reinforced by the Chinese Government "informatization" policy agenda.
