Qualcomm Announces Commercial Agreements to License Qtv, Qcamcorder and Qvideophone to Leading Wireless Handset Manufacturers

SAN DIEGO -- November 11, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced a number of leading international wireless handset manufacturers have signed commercial agreements to license the Company's mobile video software solutions. These enhanced mobile video solutions, part of the integrated suite of Launchpad™ applications include Qtv™, a real-time decoder that enables the streaming and downloading of video content; Qcamcorder™, a real-time encoder that records video; and Qvideophone™, a two-way, video telephony solution that enables mobile videoconferencing. The agreements enable manufacturers to commercialize fully integrated, cost-effective video handsets without the need for additional costly hardware components. Casio, Kyocera, LG Electronics, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Japan, Inc. and Synertek are among the manufacturers who have entered into licensing agreements with Qualcomm for the mobile video software solutions.

The Qtv, Qcamcorder and Qvideophone solutions are fully compliant, standards-based (3GPP/3GPP2) MPEG-4/H.263 software solutions. The Qtv decoder sits at the core of wireless video applications, enabling playback of streaming video-on-demand (VOD); streaming audio-on-demand (AOD); mobile viewing of real-time content (live cameras); and video messaging. Qcamcorder enables the development of a broad variety of video-based phones by providing a cost-effective, mass market, real-time video encoding solution. With Qcamcorder, everyday users can record and send video and audio clips using their mobile phones. The Qvideophone two-way mobile video conferencing solution has been tailored to 3G networks, such as CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and WCDMA (UMTS).
