SAN DIEGO -- July 15, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, and Telefónica Móviles (TEM) Perú, a leading communications provider in South America, today announced the companies have signed a definitive agreement for TEM Perú to deploy downloadable wireless applications and services based on Qualcomm's BREW solution. The agreement and pending launch mark the first time BREW-enabled products and services will be available to wireless subscribers in Perú.
TEM Perú will make a variety of BREW-based applications commercially available in the last quarter of this year. Wireless data services based on the BREW solution enable users to download applications such as games, ring tones, information directories and location-based services directly to their wireless devices virtually any time, anywhere.
