Qualcomm Congratulates Saigon Postel on Launch of Vietnam's First CDMA2000 1X Network

Hong Kong -- July 11, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, congratulates Saigon Post and Telecommunications Co. (Saigon Postel) on the successful commercial launch of its CDMA2000 1X network, S-Fone, which commenced service last week.

The new S-Fone network covers 12 provinces and cities (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Long An, Tien Giang, Ha Tay, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh). S-Fone is operated by Saigon Postel, with Korean joint venture partner, SLD Telecom.

Saigon Postel joins more than 44 other commercial 3G operators in 23 countries worldwide. The extensive range of products and services enabled by CDMA2000 1X has led to dynamic increases in subscription uptakes across the world, with over 47 million 3G CDMA2000 1X reported subscribers, as of May 31, 2003.
